About Us

This website has been developed and is maintained by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Victoria.

The TAC is a Victorian Government-owned organisation set up in 1986. Its role is to pay for treatment and benefits for people injured in transport accidents. It is also involved in promoting road safety in Victoria and in improving Victoria's trauma system.

Funding used by the TAC to perform these functions comes from payments made by Victorian motorists when they register their cars each year with VicRoads.

Safety Ratings Data

The data contained on this website is sourced from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) and the Used Car Safety Ratings (UCSR) program which are supported by Australian and New Zealand automobile clubs and the State Government road and transport authorities in Victoria, Queensland, NSW, Western Australia and South Australia, the New Zealand Government and the Australian Federal Government.

The TAC acknowledges these organisations for their assistance in developing this site.
